The Get Smart Program
This project was initiated by Family Access Network (a service for young people aged 16 – 24 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the East of Melbourne) and has been expanded through the partnership with Interact to adopt a collaborative approach with a range of other service providers. Young mothers who are homeless or have insecure housing are often socially isolated and face multiple barriers to achieving their personal goals through re-engaging in education and employment.
This project aims to remove those barriers and break the intergenerational cycle of disadvantage experienced by these young women and their families. This project also has in principle support from the City of Whitehorse, Youth Substance Abuse Service and Swinburne TAFE.
Project Partners with Interact include:
- Family Access Network
- Box Hill TAFE
